Football Dinner
JFK was in New York City as the guest of honor at the banquet of the National Football Foundation and Hall of Fame.
In attendance also on the dais was retired General Douglas MacArthur. In his opening remarks, Kennedy wryly noted that politics was astonishing in the sense that 14 years ago he was a junior lieutenant serving under the General, only to become the commander-in-chief of the entire General staff.
Kennedy also advocated for a higher commitment to physical fitness in schools and recreation centers.
