JFK was in Santa Monica, California staying at the beach house of his brother-in-law Peter Lawford when at about 5:00 pm he startled beachgoers by striding out of the house in blue boxer swim trunks and taking a 20 minute dip in the ocean.

When the crowd realized what was going on, about 300 beachgoers (some fully clothed) decided to join him in the surf, happily splashing and frolicking next to him.
