JFK and First Lady Jackie Kennedy took an Army helicopter to Andrews Air Force base to board Air Force One on the start of their trip to South America.
Kennedy, wearing a light grey suit and dark striped tie cut in regimental fashion, is seated in the forward, right most seat wearing his seat belt.
Upon exiting the helicopter, he shook hands with two Air Force officers who escorted him to a short line of dignitaries. After very brief handshakes, he paused for a moment’s conversation with the last of the officials, before ascending the stairs behind his wife. Before entering the plane, the couple turned for a quick wave.
