Labor Day in Detroit
JFK spent the 1960 Labor day in Detroit careening through 15 meetings, campaign stops, and appearances. After flying into Detroit the evening before, he managed six and a half hours’ sleep before starting his day eating his customary breakfast of eggs, bacon, orange juice, and milk at 7 am while conferring with his close advisors Pierre Salinger, Ken O’Donnell, and the ever-present Dave Powers.
