September 28, 1958
JFK spent the previous night in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, while on a campaign tour of Massachusetts during his re-election bid for the United States Senate.
He started his day by attending 11:00 am mass at St. Joesph’s Church on North Street and afterwards moved onto North Adams where he attended a reception hosted by the Fall Foliage Committee. He then reviewed the parade organized by the Committee and about 2 pm headed to the North Adams airport where he caught a flight to Springfield, Massachusetts, catching lunch during his flight.
Once in Springfield, he motored to Liberty Street where he attended a public meeting at the Liberty Legion Post building. Afterwards, he took his customary two hour break for dinner and “rest” at the Sheraton Kimball hotel.
In the evening he traveled north ten miles to the War Memorial Building on High Street in Holyoke where he attended yet another public meeting. Kennedy finished his day of September 28, 1958, by returning to the Sheraton Kimball Hotel for the night.
