JFK had lunch with his close friend journalist Charles Bartlett and Alex Radin at 12:30 pm in the Senate Dining room.

That evening he attended a black tie event at the home of Alice Roosevelt Longworth at 2009 Massachusetts Avenue, N.W. The oldest child of Teddy Roosevelt and the wife of a former Speaker of the House, Alice was a doyenne of Washington society, a wicked gossip, and a great JFK favorite.
