JFK was on Capital Hill and gave a 20 minute talk in the Council Room on the 7th floor of the AFL building at 901 Massachusetts Avenue N.W. At 2 pm, Kennedy visited with his old Harvard pal Jim Rousmaniere for a half hour.

Kennedy then made his way to the Senate chamber where he spoke on behalf of the 36th anniversary of Lithuanian independence. That evening from 5:30 to 7:30 he attended an “at home” hosted by the Lithuanian ambassador and he also squeezed in an appearance at a cocktail party before the VFW dinner in the Presidential room at the Statler Hotel.
