JFK remained in Boston and attended mass in the Cathedral at 10:00 to mark the religious day of St. Patrick’s day. He had lunch in Boston with Joe Salerno at noon and marched in the Evacuation Day parade in South Boston at 2:00 pm.
At 6:30 pm he attended a dinner in the Grand Ballroom of the Sheraton Plaza Hotel.
At 8:30 pm he attended the Ward Seven Democratic Club Dance at 317-323 Dorchester St. in East Boston, the area of the city that his poor Irish great grandparents lived in when they first immigrated to Boston.
Kennedy, who not infrequently socialized well into the night, then finished his busy day by attending the 48th annual ball of the Central Council of the Irish country club at 10:30 pm.
