News of Jackie’s pregnancy with Caroline is broken by David Barnett who was head of the Washington bureau of the North American Newspaper Alliance. He wrote,
“A vital element has been added to the well-planned and generously financed campaign to make Senator Jack Kennedy President of the United States. The Kennedys, according to exited word on Capitol Hill, are ‘expecting.’ A child will put an end to some of the recurring rumours that the youthful Mr. Kennedy and his beautiful wife are not getting along so well.”
