JFK’s article contemplating whether Ireland should provide air and naval bases to Great Britain was published in the New York Journal-American. He had written the article rather hastily while he was an inpatient in the later half of January in New England Baptist Hospital.
Kennedy, who wrote the piece, in part, to attempt to ameliorate his father’s miserable public standing and record on the war, took no sides in the discussion, dispassionately stating the pros and cons of each position.
