JFK was in California during his last days of his brief stay at Stanford University. He had been working on a document to be used by his father summarizing and trying to put in the best possible light the ambassador’s disastrous turn as the United States representative to the Court of St. James’s.
At his father’s demanding and somewhat petulant urging, Jack finished the outline on appeasement on this day and rushed it off to this father on the East Coast.
