Separation from Navy

JFK separated from the United States Navy and was placed on the retired list at the rank of full lieutenant. The order was signed by James V. Forrestal and stated,

“your incapacity is permanent, is the result of an incident of the service and was suffered in the line of duty….”

JFK kept his $10,000 life insurance policy intact, but did not take or receive a disability retirement pay or pension.
