First Article
JFK filed his first article for the Heart papers from the United Nations conference in San Francisco.
The short 300 word article was not memorable and along with saying there was not much to report on, although his life long antipathy to the Soviet Union was clear when he complained that Russia was determined to have everything their way. Kennedy then opined that the idea of a United Nations was over-hyped and that he did not think it was going to facilitate world peace.
JFK closed the article with a short interview with a uniformed Marine who said,
I don’t know much about what’s going on – but if they just fix it so that we don’t have to fight anymore – they can count me in.
Kennedy finished with, “Me too, Sarge.”
