George Mead was a friend of both JFK and Kick. Mead’s family had a summer place on Great Island in Hyannis. His father (also George Mead) was the founder of the hugely profitable Mead Paper Company in Dayton, Ohio.
Likeable and popular, he attended Hotchkiss and Yale, where he played polo and hockey and served as team manager for the football team.
