JFK spent the evening having dinner in the White House upstairs in the family dining room. Invited guests included Herve and Nicole Alphand, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Jr. and his wife Suzanne, and Italian fashion designer Princess Irene Galitzine.
During the dinner talk turned to the upcoming trip to Dallas. The recent admonition of Adlai Stevenson’s to Jackie to avoid Dallas because of unruly and hostile crowds was mentioned by Alphand, who advised her to think it over carefully.
