Grace Burke was the secretary hired to stay on and work in the Boston office after JFK was elected to Congress in 1946. She had worked at the campaign’s Tremont Street office and had found a way to make herself useful and easy to work with. One Kennedy hire at the time described Grace to another biographer thusly:
