Olasana

Kennedy and his crew, having no food or water, decided to make a break from Plum Island to Olasana Island, about a mile away. Replicating their initial swim to safety from the wreck of PT 109, Jack towed burned crew member Pappy McMahon by breast stroking with Lennie Thom and Barney Ross and the rest of the crew hanging onto a floating timber and paddling their feet and following behind.

Once on the island, Jack organized the men in harvesting coconuts on the ground from the trees dotting the island. McMahon was placed in the sea water in an attempt to sterilize his burn wounds.

Once his men had been somewhat refreshed, Kennedy surveyed the surrounding islands and considered his options,
