Maxwell Taylor was a retired Army General who was asked to come out of retirement by JFK to serve as his military advisors, a new position being created by Kennedy. Part of the White House chatter suggested that part of the job was to serve as a buffer between Kennedy and the Joint Chiefs.<\/p>\n
