JFK met every Tuesday morning for breakfast with legislative leaders in the old family dining room on the first floor of the mansion. Regular attendees included Lyndon Johnson, Sam Rayburn, John McCormack, Carl Albert, Mike Mansfield, Hubert Humphrey, and George Smathers.
This room was used by the presidential family at mealtimes up until the Kennedy’s moved into the building and Jackie moved the first family’s meals into the private residence quarters.
