JFK even from early age was interested in history and spent much time and energy reading and studying. Rose Kennedy said in an interview conducted by actress Patty Duke that amongst all of her children that “Jack was particularly interested in history.”
Kennedy by all accounts had an immense intellectual curiosity, a need to know what was going on and why. His interest in history (and his love of gossip) likely sprang from a need to have events, issues, and ideas become real and visceral to him.
JFK collected and owned many historical documents, particularly those relating to the pre-Revolutionary War history of Massachusetts.
