Savile Row tailor H. Harris Clothing Company (who had a store in New York City on 57th Street) was JFK’s long-time tailor who made Kennedy’s inauguration suit, as well as his favorite custom-tailored Shetland Tweed Herringbone topcoat.
Sam Harris was interviewed for the Life Magazine profile that appeared seven months after the inauguration and discussed clothing Kennedy. Gossip in the industry has it that Kennedy (who demanded compete loyalty and discretion from his associates) was annoyed with this and subsequently dropped H. Harris in favor of the Chipp clothing company, who dressed RFK and brothers-in-law Steve Smith and Peter Lawford.
