Write Gore Vidal was both a Kennedy friend (in part through his family “connection” with Jacqueline Bouvier) and then later rejected
by the clan. Vidal and Jackie had the same stepfather Hugh D. Auchincloss and Gore lived for a time at Hammersmith, the Auchincloss estate in Newport, Rhode Island.
