JFK arrived at the prep school Choate in Wallingford, Connecticut, two weeks after the start of the term. Before he can enroll, however, he must pass the last entrance exam (Latin) required for admission, which he had failed in the summer.
His summer of tutoring paid off and he made a passing grade. Afterwards he headed to the registrars office and then with the help of his brother Joe, who had been a student at Choate for the last year, Jack carried his belongings into Choate House, his residence for his first year.
