November 3, 1952 (Monday)
JFK, Bobby, and Teddy campaigned the night before the election for Senate in the Mattapan neighborhood of South Boston.
Instead of giving a political speech, JFK reportedly said,
Ladies and gentlemen, everything that has been said and everything that could have been said in this campaign has been said. Instead of that, the brothers Kennedy are going to sing a song.
The three brothers started singing “They’re Breaking Up That Old Gang of Mine.”
The evening was witnessed by Bobby Kennedy friend John Seigenthaler.
